Just like Old Yeller
Us members of Buck Pig have decided to take an extended, indefinite hiatus. From the outside, it will be hard to tell the difference between the last several months and this hiatus.
I will, however, be posting some recent Buck Pig recordings here over the next few months.

A Tree with Roots
As some of you are aware, Greg and Chuck used to play together in a band called My Name is Rar-Rar. We rocked. Just as hard as Buck Pig rocks.
Recently I came across two old cds of rough mixes of studio recording MNIRR did at Key Club in 2003. The stuff was never released; we broke up later that year. One cd was labeled "red," the other "green." Don't remember what that might have referred to.
Anyway, I put the stuff up on a bandcamp.com page here. Just as with BuckPig.com/Music, you can listen to the songs right on the site or download them in a variety of formats.

Recap of Buck Pig show #3, at Lowercase Collective in Chicago
Ah, the Lowercase Collective took Greg and Chuck on a trip down memory lane...they both remember playing lots of shows in lots of places like it in previous bands. It's a residential building and had the show in a small room in the basement. Greg and Chuck were easily the oldest folks there by ten or fifteen years, but felt welcomed by the youngsters.
Buck Pig was honored and delighted to be on a bill with the Paper Mice, who were really, really good. Greg said they reminded him of the Stickmen. We heart the Paper Mice.
Buck Pig played last, and folks were getting antsy-- at one point a young man broke a beer bottle on the floor and Nate intervened to talk him down. Once we played, everyone was happy. We premiered a new song, Chain of Nickels.
Next show: who knows?

Recap of Buck Pig Show #2, Hollywood Lounge in Chicago:
Nestled among a gallimaufry of acts including a Jimi Hendrix tribute band, a dixieland combo, a blues band, the Buck Pig and others, we made the most of the twenty minutes alotted to us. We premiered Mugsy, a song about one of my dogs, to great success. After our set, the drummer from the blues band compared Greg to Jim Morrison and Iggy Pop.
It was a very Bojko evening; Nate was on stage with three of the acts.
